About
Behind every Sumakhi design is a passion elicited from a love of colour and a desire to create around the feminine form.Commercially launched in 2005, Sumakhi is the continual quest of designer Jayne Leslie. Lisa Caterina came on board in 2008 as general manager, and the collaboration is propelling the label towards bigger and better things every season.
Jayne graduated fashion design in 2003 and then went on to work for highly regarded Australian labels Sass and Bide and Alice McCall. Unable to hold back her own need to create, Jayne followed her instincts and ventured out on her own to establish what is quickly becoming a cult label in Australia... Sumakhi.
'I see fashion as a constantly changing creature, one that begs for continual updating. Designing is a way to express my emotions and make my mark on the world. I love to know that women are wearing my clothes and feeling sexy and confident.'
Bright, intoxicating tones and graphic prints are signature to the Sumakhi style, with each season presenting a fresh array of colours, unique prints and innovative shapes.
Featuring in various publications such as Russh, Cleo, Cosmopolitan, Madison, and Shop Til You Drop, Sumakhi continues to grow, however to ensure the wearer feels unique, Sumakhi abdicates popularity for exclusivity.
Sumakhi's four releases each year follow the changes in the seasons, so fresh and exciting styles can be found at any time at selected special boutiques around Australia.
